Ear infection
Q: My vet perscribed dicural for my dog duke, since you don't carry that med, is there an equivilent drug that can be bought cheaper than dicural. thank you
A: Dicural is in the same antibiotic catagory as baytril and orbax. you would have to check with your veterinarian to see if he feels they may be effective. we can't tell the price difference because we don't have the product.
Sores and hairloss
Q: My dog has sores all over his body and he is losing his hair. it started on his chest, i thought it was from him tryin to get his coller off, but now its all over his body. i noticed today that he has a rash all over him. is there anything over the counter a can treat him with?
A: Not really other than getting good antibacterial shampoo from 1800petmeds such as oxydex or chlorihexiderm which you can use every few days. also can use oral benadryl at dose of 1/2 to 1 mg per pound orally twice daily which might ease itching but he likely needs vet visit and antibiotics, anti inflammatories, etc

Kitten sneeze and cough
Q: Our kitten has been prescribed clavamox and 4 cough pills on monday. since tuesday, i noticed that there is something coming out when he sneezes and he licked all those stuff. is his condition's getting worse? thanks!
A: Possibly getting worse. if persists return to vet for reevaluation and possibly different meds
5 month pupp with roundworms

A: After a positive diagnosis for roundworms, you can use a product such as nemex-2 (pyrantel pamoate) for dogs and puppies

Q: My friend gave me a bottle of pyrantel pamoate which has directions for dosage for people, but not animals. could you please give me the correct dosage for dogs with roundworm? the bottle indicates that the pyrantel base per 1 ml. is 50 mg. thanks for your time, cate
A: I usually use 1 cc per 20 pounds of body weight and then repeat in 3 weeks
